Job Summary

Spot is leading the cloud offerings by NetApp, delivering application-driven infrastructures (ADIs) that use analytics and machine learning to continuously optimize resources to application needs in real-time. Solution Architects are a future customer's first technical contact and help to discover opportunities where Spot can help solve a customer's cloud goals.

In this role, you'll combine your technical skills, passion, and creativity to generate grass-roots attention and support for Spot among key industry innovators and technologists in North America, as well as globally. You will lead technical discussions, demonstrate the value of our products, advise on configuration and implementation, and suggest solutions. You will work closely with all teams at NetApp and provide customer feedback that leads to new products and features.

You'll work alongside Spot's Business Development team to:

  • Deliver audience-focused technical presentations. Curate and build hands-on technical content.
  • Grow your knowledge of Spot solutions, adding breadth and depth as required by your passions and by your audience's needs.
  • Provide technical guidance for Builders to be successful with the cloud and with Spot's products.
  • Simplify complex topics and adapt your message to the needs of your audience.
  • Use your unique personality and authentic content to help attract Builders to Spot. Inspiring them to build and keeping them engaged.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Gain industry recognition and credibility as a regular attendee and speaker at industry related conferences, shows, and press events.
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations, sample solutions, and discussions to help drive awareness and adoption of Spot products.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to define the regional strategy and goals, as well as supporting community user groups and developer program initiatives.
  • Create and maintain relevant content (demos, videos, blogs, screencasts, etc.), covering Spot products along with emerging adjacent technologies and industry developments.
  • Maintain a strong and credible presence in social media channels, forums, and other places relevant to our technical audiences.
  • Working with your worldwide counterparts to share best practices and help build a best-in-the-industry developer relations organization.


  • 10+ years of experience working in a technology advocate or technical executive role.
  • 10+ years of knowledge and experience with cloud computing infrastructure, application development platforms, and popular programming languages
  • 10+ years of experience in public speaking, content creation, and presentation skills (inperson and online), and experience working with technical communities.
  • Willingness to travel and ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

A plus:

  • 8+ years in software development or architecture with special emphasis in areas including Databases, Application Services, Big Data, Containers, Serverless Applications, Machine Learning, Open Source Solutions, and/or distributed computing.
  • 5+ years of practical familiarity with cloud computing platforms, architecture work, systems or application design, development or operations. Existing knowledge of the AWS platform is a great bonus.
  • Working knowledge and experience with social/online marketing coupled with prior experience in product definition, bring-to-market strategies and/ or setting an industry standard.
